I invite you to international frame drum workshops with Zohar Fresco!

Our meeting with Zohar Fresco will take the form of a camp. For over 10 days, we share space with Zohar Fresco and his students, the Italian musician Francesco Magaro who plays frame drums, the Polish drummer Michał Pękosz and me :) The camp begins with a workshop on playing the Iranian Daf led by Sultan Kara.

The camp will take place at our farm, Silpia Duża 9, on August 8-18, 2024.

All current musicians invited by Zohar will share their knowledge and experience in the field of Middle Eastern music.

DIVISION INTO GROUPS

In order to ensure a high methodological standard of the workshops, we will create 3 workshop groups on site:

- for people who start playing drums

- for people who have been playing for some time and know the basics of the Zohar Fresco methodology

- for long-time students of Zohar or people advanced in playing the frame drum

Each group will have a program adapted to the level of its participants. Each day will be divided into working with Zohar Freco and "own work" or consolidating the material under the supervision and help of Franceso Magaro, Michał Pękosz and Jacek Żelazek.

Evening meetings around the bonfire will be shaped by us, we can play, talk or listen to all kinds of stories about drums and more.

THEMATIC BLOCKS

The camp is divided into 4 thematic blocks. This gives you the opportunity to participate only in a one-day module of your choice.

11/08/2024 - Drumming Retreat with Zohar Fresco - a one-day workshop devoted to working with breath while playing drums. One of the most important issues for a musician and for a human being in general :)

12-13/08/2024 - basics of drumming (beginner group) or "compositions" (medium and advanced group)

14-15 - techniques used on a frame drum. In this module we focus on technical issues such as split hands, snaps, combinations of techniques, tempo and precision. The program is adapted to three different levels.

16-17 - polyrhythm. One of the drummer's most powerful powers is polyrhythmy. We will learn how to start preparation with traditional polyrhythmic patterns (beginner group) or how to develop previously acquired skills (medium and advanced groups).

Place: 

The camp takes place on our organic farm and frame drum studio.

We make reservations for places by sending an e-mail asking about availability and, after receiving a response, paying half of the total amount to the account of the Życie w Rytmie foundation. 

FEES 

You have several options for paying for your camp. 

1. Full participation from August 8 to 18, workshop with Sultan Kara and four modules with Zohar Fresco and his educators:      

       a) PLN 4,370 - ACCOMMODATION AT HOME, rooms for 3 or 4 people, three vegetarian meals a day

       b) PLN 4,170 - ACCOMMODATION on the camping site (your own tent) or in the attic of the "barn", i.e.               our summer music studio, three vegetarian meals a day 

2. Participating in four modules with Zohar Fresco and his educators

       a) PLN 3,700 - ACCOMMODATION AT HOME, rooms for 3 or 4 people, three vegetarian meals a day

       b) PLN 3,500 - ACCOMMODATION on a camping site (your own tent) or in the attic of the "barn", i.e. our             summer music studio, three vegetarian meals a day 

3. Participation in a one-day module - workshop fee PLN 350, meal fee - PLN 50 per one 

4. Participation in a two-day module - workshop fee PLN 650, accommodation in a campsite or attic - PLN          50/night, meals PLN 50 per one 

5. Participation in a workshop with Sultan Kara - workshop fee PLN 600, accommodation in a camping site or      in the attic - PLN 50/night, meals - PLN 50 for one meal.

Amount: 50% of the camp fee The second part of the fee is payable by August 1, 2024. 

IF YOU NEED TO RENT OR BUY AN INSTRUMENT FROM ME, PLEASE WRITE IT IN THE REGISTRATION - the loan of the instrument for the duration of the camp is covered by the Foundation. 

Traveling
Airport Chopin in Warsaw or Airtport Balice in Cracovia.
From both airports you have direct train to Central Station (Warsav) or Main Station (Cracovia).
Than take the train to Wloszczowa Polnoc (Włoszczowa Północ), about 1,5 - 2 h by train. Than we will pick you up from Włoszczowa Północ to our camp - it is 15 minutes by car :)
